In addition to saving lost coins in a piggy bank, there are other ways to save money as a couple... And no, I am not talking about opening a joint savings account or hiding money under your matress. I'm talking about little tricks that can do wonders for your finances and some more!
Tomar banho em conjunto : gasta-se muito menos água e gás/electricidade. Tem é que ser rápido, pois com longos duches ou banhos de imersão a ideia de poupança vai literalmente pelo cano abaixo ( apesar de essas coisas também serem necessárias de vez em quando! )
Take showers together : you'll spend a lot less water and gas/electricity. You need to be quick, though, because with long showers or bubble baths the whole savings idea goes literally down the drain (although those sort of things are sometimes necessary aswell)
De manhã ao acordar e à noite ao deitar, quando forem aliviar a bexiga, façam-no um a seguir ao outro : assim, só puxam o autoclismo uma vez (ATENÇÃO : não façam isto se alguém estiver com infecções urinárias!!).
In the morning, when you wake up or just before bedtime, empty your blatter one right after the other: this way you only need to flush once (ATTENTION : don't do this if one of you has a blatter infection!!)
De vez em quando, partilhem...
...o copo para beber água durante o dia
... uma refeição do mesmo prato
... uma tigela de gelado
Assim, só se gasta metade da louça :) (ATENÇÃO : mais uma vez, não façam isto se algum estiver doente!!)

Perguntem se o outro quer alguma coisa quando forem preparar um lanchinho para vocês : em vez de fazerem uma torrada, façam logo duas, em vez de aquecerem uma chávena de leite no microondas, aqueçam duas. Pode ser que tenham de aumentar o tempo num minuto, mas mesmo assim o tempo e energia poupados compensam.
Ask the other if they want something, when you prepare yourself a mid-afternoon (or night) snack : instead of making one piece of toast, make two, or heat up two cups of milk in the microwave instead of just one. You may need to increase the time a little, but it won't cost you as much time and power as if you did those things separately.
Desliguem as luzes... e façam um jantar à luz das velas :)
Turn of the lights.... and make a candle-light dinner :)
Aproveitem a companhia um do outro : quando têm de ir a fazer aquelas coisas chatas ( ir à loja do cidadão ou ir ao médico ) tentem combinar para que ambos tenham de tratar das mesmas coisas no mesmo dia - assim, para além de terem alguém com quem falar enquanto esperam, vão os dois no mesmo carro. Claro que o melhor é ir de transportes públicos, mas isso às vezes nem sempre é viável.
Take advantage of eachother's company : when you have to do those boring things (go to the DMV or to the doctor), try and schedule those appointments for both of you for the same day - this way not only do you have someone to talk to, but you can use the same car for the travelling part. Of course, the best thing would be to use public transportation, but that's not always doable.
Aninhem-se um no outro no Inverno, andem à fresca no Verão e poupam no ar condicionado.
Cuddle in the Winter and discard the clothes during Summer, and you'll save on air-condittioning.
Adiram a cartões e promoções culturais "2 pelo preço de 1" : há várias ofertas deste tipo no mercado e valem mesmo a pena (este é um bom exemplo e é o que mais me tem compensado)
Use every coupon or discount card that has a "2 for 1" policy on cultural offers : there are many choices in todays market that are really worth it.
Rapidamente vão ver que, mesmo que não fosse pelo dinheiro, algumas destas medidas sempre valeriam a pena :D
Quickly you'll realize that, even if it weren't for the money, some of these tipos would nevertheless be useful :D
